You’re almost there!
There are a few more steps prior to making your house a home.
- Interior finishes
During the construction process you will work with the builder and possibly an interior designer to select all of the finishes for your Atlanta, Georgia home – wood finishes, paint colors, hardware, light fixtures, etc. Your selections will be installed during the final phase of construction.
- HVAC
The next step is to install the furnace for the heating and air conditioning units, the vents and all the duct work. Some of the duct work may have been installed during the construction phase, depending on the configuration of your home.
- Electrical Finishes
One of The Housing Group’s certified electricians will return after the walls are in place to install wall outlets, light fixtures, cover plates and switches.
- Cabinets and counters
Installing cabinets and countertops can be messy work, so this step takes place prior to painting. Wall trim, molding and baseboards go in as soon as the cabinets are completed.
- Plumbing hook-ups
Sinks, toilets and faucets are much smaller than bathtubs and don’t expand when full – so they are added much later in the process. Once these fixtures are installed, the plumber will install the water heater and connect the water lines to a septic system or city water and sewer lines.
- Painting
Painting is one of the very last tasks to be completed. The wall trim is painted first, followed by the ceilings and walls. Carpet, tile and hardwood floors also are installed at this time, making the home nearly ready for move in.
- Punch list
After the home is completed, The Housing Group conducts a walk-through and notes any items that need to be addressed. These items are put on a “punch list” and individual contractors are called back to fix them. Prior to taking ownership of your Atlanta, Georgia home, you will have the opportunity to go through the home with an inspector and note any items that need to be corrected.
