Building ProcessPre-Construction Phase

Design Your Home in Eastside Walk

After choosing the perfect lot, it’s time to select your home’s floor plan.

Sometimes the house plan is dependent on the lot; for example, a two-story home might work better on a narrow lot than a sprawling ranch.

The Housing Group will help you choose the floor plan that best suits the lot you selected. If you build in an Atlanta neighborhood, you may be limited to the floor plans the builder has chosen for the community. If you are building on a single lot, you will likely have greater flexibility to build a custom home to your specifications.

Have you ever seen a lot in a new neighborhood and wondered how a house was possibly going to fit there? Before construction begins on the home the lot must be prepared, which can include removing rocks, debris and/or leveling the lot.

Once the site is ready and the home’s floor plan chosen, the foundation of the house is built. Homes can be built on a slab, crawl-space or basement foundation. Basement and slab foundations are most common in Atlanta neighborhoods. The layout of your lot is one of the main determining factors for whether a basement can be included. Slab foundations are less expensive than basement foundations, so budget may also play a role in this decision.
